Substitute Bus Attendant – Transportation (On Call)
Join the Lodi Unified School District as a Substitute Bus Attendant on an on‑call basis.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the bus driver in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all passengers, including handicapped students.
Attend to the needs of handicapped students during transit.
Apply health and safety regulations, first aid and CPR procedures as required.
Use behavior‑management techniques to keep order among children on the bus.
Help lift and seat handicapped students and handle wheelchairs.
Remain calm in stressful situations and follow oral and written instructions.
Work cooperatively with bus drivers and other staff, establishing effective working relationships.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
First Aid and CPR experience.
Behavior management skills.
Understanding of the needs of exceptional children.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Effective communication and teamwork.
Required Documents
High School Diploma or equivalent;
or
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Education Degree (must be attached with application).
Special Requirements / Certificates
Valid First Aid and CPR certificate issued by an authorized agency (required if hired).
Out‑of‑district applicants must be T.B. tested, fingerprinted; a practical skills test may be administered at interview.
