Senior Field Service Technician
Role Overview
In this role, no two days will be the same. You'll be out in the field troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment while delivering great service to customers. Responsibilities Testing and Calibration:
Instrument transformer testing
Power transformer testing (Doble, insulation resistance, transformer turns ratio)
Cable testing including power factor, tan delta, VLF, and hipot
Circuit breaker and switchgear testing (low, medium, and high voltage)
Primary and secondary injection testing
Protective relay testing (electromechanical and solid-state)
Continuity and ground fault testing
Power quality analysis
Field Work:
Troubleshoot, inspect, start up, and collect data on switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, and ATS systems
Perform inspections, diagnose issues, replace components, make repair recommendations, and recommission equipment
Safety:
Follow all safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices
Team & Customer Interaction:
Support teammates and contribute to a strong team environment
Communicate clearly with customers, explaining issues and solutions in a way that's easy to understand
Documentation:
Complete accurate service reports and documentation
Perform work in accordance with NETA or NICET standards, as required
Qualifications and Competencies 5+ years of relevant electrical testing experience
Comfortable using industry testing equipment such as meggers, digital multimeters, hi‑pot testers, oil dielectric strength testers, relay test sets, primary and secondary injection equipment, cable fault detectors, and oscilloscopes
At least 3 years of driving experience with a valid, unrestricted driver's license
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to read and understand schematics, manuals, and safety procedures
Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on‑call rotations
