Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a site administrator and daily direction of a credentialed teacher(s), provide instructional support and assistance to students receiving special education services who have extensive support needs.
Perform instructional support activities related to behavior management and other special education services.
May work in a classroom or provide support to a single student as documented in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Assist with instruction, related activities, clerical duties, and maintain appropriate student conduct.
Maintain professional, cooperative, and effective working relationships; communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent, with extensive and demonstrated experience (paid or volunteer) working with children.
Valid Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification; first aid, CPR, AED certifications from approved providers.
Current, valid California driver’s license may be required for some positions.
Knowledge of principles and practices related to students with special education services, behavior concerns, and instructional methods.
Strong English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy; ability to work with diverse groups.
Basic record‑keeping techniques, classroom procedures, and appropriate student conduct.
