Position Summary
: The Director of Music Ministries will design, execute, and evaluate the holistic music ministries of the church while assisting with worship planning and execution. This role involves overseeing all music programs, including choirs and ensembles, and working closely with the pastoral and worship teams to create meaningful worship experiences. The Director will recruit members for musical groups, maintain instruments, and contribute to the church’s overall mission through music.
Primary Responsibilities
: Music Ministry Oversight
:
Oversee all aspects of the Adult Choir, Children's Choir(s), Ensembles, and Handbell Choirs, including previewing and ordering music, robes, instruments, and other necessary supplies.
Actively recruit members and directors for all musical groups as identified in the "Musical Group Responsibilities" section.
Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of all instruments, including pianos and handbells.
Submit an annual budget reflecting the needs of the growing music ministry.
Provide worship music details to the Director of Communications for inclusion in weekly worship slides and the CCLI archive, ensuring accuracy in lyrics for congregational singing.
Offer information and feedback concerning music activities for the church, including worship services and special events.
Assist with planning special worship services as scheduled by the Worship Committee and/or Pastors.
Collaborate with age‑level ministry leaders for the coordination of youth and children's choirs.
Musical Group Responsibilities
:
Conduct weekly and seasonal rehearsals at times convenient for volunteers.
Direct the choir and congregational singing at all worship services.
Collaborate with the Pastor(s) for the selection of appropriate musical pieces for worship.
Manage the previewing, ordering, and filing of music as needed.
Maintain choir robes in proper order and arrange for cleaning as necessary.
Handbell Choir
:
Conduct weekly rehearsals at times agreed upon with group members.
Schedule the Handbell Choir to perform a minimum of four times annually.
Oversee the previewing and ordering of all music.
Ensure the upkeep and tuning of handbells.
Oversee and recruit directors in coordination with age‑level ministry leaders.
Coordinate rehearsal and performance schedules for these groups, collaborating with age‑level ministry leaders.
Assist in ordering music for children's choirs as needed.
Work with the Senior Pastor and other staff to support worship planning and music selection.
Ensure all music‑related activities align with the church’s overall mission and values.
Attend staff meetings and participate in planning sessions as needed.
Necessary Skills
:
Technological proficiency and excellent communication skills are required.
Experience with the specific tools used by the church (Breeze ChMS, Google Apps, ProPresenter, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) is preferable but not essential.
Work Hours
:
The Director of Music Ministries will also be present for all rehearsals, worship team meetings, and special events as requested by the church.
