Compensation Range:

Starting at $12 per hour depending on verifiable experience

Available Schedule:

FT: 2:00pm - 10:00pm, Monday - Friday and every other weekend

Job Duties:

Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) assist seniors who are functionally, physically, and/or socially impaired in the Assisted Living area. The PCA’s role is to assist residents with activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents’ independence and freedom of choice. PCAs work with a group of residents on their assigned hall for their shift.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Basic computer skills

Previous experience in a healthcare or home care setting

Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment)

Experience in providing assistance with ADLs

Knowledge of Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks

Must be able to think, act and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations

Must be self-motivated and function as an “in charge person”

Plans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor

Works collaboratively with peers and other team members

Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques at all times

Acts as ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors

Essential Functions:

Activities of Daily Living

Provides assistance with dressing and undressing

Provides assistance with bathing

Provides assistance with personal hygiene

Provides assistance with mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques

Care for ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and dentures

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living

Provides assistance with telephone (assists with calls, telephone repairs, hearing and vision adaptive skills)

Provides assistance with housekeeping tasks associated with personal care such as washing dishes, bed making, cleaning bathroom and linen/towel changes, as well as doing resident’s personal laundry

Medication Assistance

Assists residents with self-administration of medications

Monitors medication supplies and documentation

Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks

Observes and reports changes in resident’s physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the Director of AL or Wellness Nurse

Conducts room checks and resident rounds

Monitors for environmental safety hazards

Reports and records incidents, errors or accidents

Reports and records resident and resident-related events

Promotes residents’ social, physical and emotional well-being

Dining

Assists with escorting residents to the Dining Room for meals

Assists with preparing the Dining Room for meals (setting tables, clearing tables, cleaning dining room & dishes when necessary)

Assists with taking meal orders and waiting tables during mealtimes

Activity Program

Assists with planning and preparing for activities

Assists with reminding and escorting residents to activities

Participates in scheduled and unscheduled activities

Assists with cleanup after scheduled activities

Work Hours:

Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities

May require working long hours or hours outside of the normal work week

May be designated essential personnel in the event of emergency situations, including hurricanes, evacuation, fire, flood, etc., and be required to remain on campus for the duration of the emergency

Physical Requirements:

This position requires extensive standing, walking, and the ability to lift and transfer residents with assistance.
