The Plumber Apprentice works under the guidance of licensed plumbers to learn and assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems in commercial buildings. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in developing a career in commercial plumbing.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the installation and repair of piping systems, fixtures, water heaters, and drainage systems in commercial properties
Help lay out and measure pipe runs and read blueprints or technical drawings
Support the team in locating and diagnosing plumbing issues
Maintain a clean and organized work area, both on-site and in storage areas
Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites
Observe all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of PPE
Learn to use plumbing tools and equipment correctly and efficiently
Attend training sessions and complete any required apprenticeship coursework
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Enrolled or willing to enroll in a certified plumbing apprenticeship program
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plumbing skills
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various positions (climbing, kneeling, etc.)
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Working Conditions:
Work is performed on active construction sites and in existing commercial buildings
Exposure to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous materials
May involve early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekend work
Competitive hourly wage with scheduled raises based on apprenticeship progress.
On-the-job training and mentorship.
Opportunity to become a certified journeyman sheet metal worker.
