Pay range is $30.00 - $36.00 / hour

This is a second shift role Monday-Thursday 2pm-12:30am.

Calibration Technician III is a mid to upper‑level technician position with a minimum of four (4) years commercial calibration experience preferred. Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher‑level equipment across a minimum of six (6) disciplines, with expert knowledge in two (2) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix. A Calibration Technician III will be capable of completing work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location, with limited or no guidance. Completion of a professional CCT or CMT certification is desired for this role.

Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform calibration work with little to no supervision

Conduct independent research when necessary

Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager

Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques

Maintain calibration standards

Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made

Read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation

Work effectively with lab support staff

Working knowledge and competency in six (6) disciplines and expert in two (2) disciplines preferred

Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer onsite setting

Work at customer on‑sites with little to no direction

Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards

Other duties as assigned

Travel requirement: up to 50% of work schedule

Primary Objectives

Learn and develop fundamental calibration skills and techniques, which includes high level production with few errors

Develop team lead skills and responsibilities

Develop skills necessary to train and advise lower‑level technicians

Develop skills necessary to advance to Senior Calibration Technician position, which includes a working knowledge and competency in at least eight (8) disciplines and expert competency in three (3) disciplines.

Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC‑F01‑001)

Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

Successful completion of assigned training materials through on‑the‑job training, online content, LMS, and classroom‑led instruction

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Excellent attention to detail

Self‑motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes

Ability to take direction and learn from feedback

Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team

3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license

Education and Experience

Required:

Associates degree from college or technical school, or four+ (4+) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience working within ISO 17025 and the ability to create, edit and maintain uncertainty budgets with an extensive understanding of statistics

Preferred:

Four+ (4+) years of commercial calibration experience

CCT or CMT certification

Previous experience or training in electronics or machining

Extensive statistical background

Familiarity with basic hand tools

Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and OutlookAdvanced organizational and time management skills

Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
