Job Title X-Ray Technician (6-12 Month Contract Beginning January 2026)

Summary Serves as initial contact for all patients visiting the office. Also serves as the X-Ray Technician whose duties include explaining procedures to patients, calibrating imaging equipment and preparing results.

Duties and Responsibilities

Answer, screen, and direct calls on a multi-line phone system; take detailed messages and/or forward telephone calls to the appropriate practitioner, voicemail, or pager.

Clear messages each morning and deliver them to the appropriate practitioner.

Meet and greet patients; announce, direct, and/or escort them to the appropriate area.

Open and route incoming mail.

Compose and type routine correspondence as required.

Perform general clerical duties including filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing as required.

Keep the reception area organized.

Follow instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient's body needs imaging.

Talk patients through the procedure and answer questions to reduce their anxiety.

Correctly position patients and adjust imaging equipment to the specified position.

Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients and staff.

Follow correct techniques and procedures, such as patient shielding.

Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs, and placing orders.

Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology.

Minimum of 2 years working experience in a healthcare facility as an x-ray or radiology technician with front desk experience.

Required medical licenses to operate in the relevant area.

Clear understanding of how to handle and operate medical imaging equipment.

High level of flexibility in performing assigned duties with dual responsibilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to share updates with patients and other medical staff.

Strong analytical thinking and ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Superb customer service skills to support patients and their families.

Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all levels.

Commitment to excellence and high standards.

Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Professional appearance and demeanor are always required.

Pay Transparency Statement In accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act, this role falls within Pay Grade 10 of the 2025 OPM Salary Table for the NY, NJ, CT, and PA region. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
