Position Overview We are currently seeking a self‑motivated Junior Geologist, Scientist, or Engineer to join our Syracuse, New York office. This entry‑level position offers a balance of office‑based responsibilities and field activities, supporting a wide range of environmental projects. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support projects that protect natural resources and promote sustainable communities.
Responsibilities
Support environmental assessments and investigations involving surface and subsurface soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor
Perform data entry, quality review, and assist with report preparation to document field investigation results
Assist in the preparation of work plans and other project‑related documentation
Provide field oversight and support on environmental and construction‑related projects
Support general office and administrative tasks for project teams
Assist with a diverse range of projects, which may include environmental compliance, construction support, natural resource management, and hazardous site investigation and remediation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Geosciences, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
1 or more years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, including exposure to:
Field sampling procedures
Monitoring well installation
Subcontractor oversight
Analytical data interpretation
Technical reporting
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Adobe applications
Ability to travel frequently, typically on 2–3 day long trips. Most travel will be local to New York state, but will require overnight stays. Travel is variable throughout the year.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with GIS and/or CAD
Current 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification
First Aid / CPR certification
Note: This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.
Drug Screen Statement Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen.
Pay Range $55,000—$65,000 USD. The EA pay range for this position is intended as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation or salary. Factors considered when making an offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, and compliance with federal and state laws.
