Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, provide a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, and recommend additional items as appropriate. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; handle transactions with correct changes and issue receipts while maintaining high guest service standards. Respond to guest questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate, in a timely and professional manner. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed to align with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance feedback in the Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates ensuring adherence to guidelines, manage breaks and meals, supervise staffing for optimum guest service. Approve payroll, manage time off requests, and verify pay for time worked. Ensure all areas of the store are clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines; maintain store fixtures and equipment in proper working order. Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct security checks at closing if appropriate; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties. Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented on the sales floor. Balance and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and manage cash deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and communicate with management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and include packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly per company guidelines. Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date; supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; work independently and in a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing. Complete required paperwork properly and follow written or diagrammed instructions. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Manage pressure, be creative, and solve problems while maintaining guest interactions. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently; stand and move for extended periods. Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform related tasks; basic mobility requirements apply. Benefits: Full-time store positions at GameStop are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions may also be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives. Compensation: $15.52 - $19.52
