About the Position
This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot. This position serves as Maintenance Mechanic responsible for carpentry and lightning protection.
Duties
Installing, modifying, troubleshooting and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam heating; steam generation; flash and expansion tanks; condensate, vacuum, and circulation pumps; and radiators.
Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems, hydrants, water mains, water closets, and air compression equipment.
Troubleshooting components and disassembling, repairing, and reassembling complete devices and subassemblies of various electrical systems.
Installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting, testing and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
Constructing, altering, repairing, or modifying components and structures such as framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior and exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Required to have his/her name on a call out list and be called back to work during non-duty hours (including weekends) to support emergency situations or make emergency repairs.
Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after appointment to this position; and is not required to work in unsupervised situations until these training requirements have been met.
Occasionally be required to work with and around asbestos materials. Will receive asbestos removal training; and be required to take pre-placement, annual and termination medical examinations in accordance with CFR 1910. 1001.
Will be fitted with a respirator equipped for the type of asbestos being exposed to; and will receive and wear other protective clothing as required.
Will occasionally be required to operate engineer equipment such as a backhoe, or drive large trucks, to accomplish work requirements.
Employee must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
