About the Role The Machine Operator supports manufacturing operations within an enclosed warehouse environment that is not fully heated. This role requires strict adherence to safety standards and the ability to rotate through multiple production workstations. Candidates must be comfortable wearing a respirator up to 50% of the time, working in variable temperatures, and performing physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
Job Summary
The Machine Operator (Siding Operator) is responsible for producing high-quality residential siding products by safely and efficiently operating manufacturing equipment. This role emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork while supporting plant operations and production goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
General Responsibilities Work safely and assume responsibility for personal and team safety. Follow all company safety rules and policies. Rotate through four (4) different workstations as assigned. Complete all Quality Assurance and Production Reports accurately. Report equipment issues and repairs using work orders. Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean work environment. Forming Operations Operate machinery within defined operating parameters. Load raw materials into batches as assigned. Operate scale systems and verify QA machinery functionality. Siding Operations Make minor machine adjustments. Monitor production quality and report issues promptly. Autoclave Operations Assist with rack changes during punching and finishing processes. Report equipment repairs and process issues. Paint Machine Operations Maintain QA parameters and paint levels. Collect QC samples. Assist other coating system operators and machine operators.
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills Ability to operate manufacturing machinery Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations Comfortable using calculators and completing production documentation Willingness to wear required PPE, including respirators Preferred Skills Manufacturing or production experience Understanding of equipment, processes, and product specifications Knowledge of safety practices and manufacturing procedures Certified Lift Truck Operator Additional Qualifications Positive attitude and ability to adapt in a team environment Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching Ability to lift and handle materials regularly Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, humidity, and industrial hazards Enclosed warehouse environment (not fully climate controlled)
Safety & Equipment Requirements
Must provide own steel-toe/safety shoes Must provide own warm clothing (long pants required; long sleeves optional)
