The
Chipper Operator
is an integral member of the wood chip mill operating team and reports to the chip mill manager. The chip mill operating team members share the responsibility of promoting and maintaining a safe working environment and the safe operation of equipment.
The
Crane Operator
is responsible for the efficient production of quality clean wood chips used in paper manufacturing. This position involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to operation of the wood chip mill. This position involves operation of medium and heavy equipment and must be performed by a skilled individual with safety and precision. The operator is responsible for regularly cleaning, maintaining, and servicing the equipment to ensure safe and proper operation and to increase its life.
The
Loader Operator
position involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to operation of the wood chip mill. This position involves the operation of heavy medium and equipment and must be performed by a skilled individual with safety and precision. The operator is responsible for regularly cleaning, maintaining and servicing the equipment to ensure safe and proper operation and to increase its life.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the chip mill operation.
Capable of operating and maintaining the chip mill equipment.
Conduct pre-operational and post-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
Perform daily maintenance of equipment.
Maintain awareness of wear items including flail chain, counter knives, anvil, face plates and other parts, replacing as necessary.
Monitor chip quality and adjust the chipper equipment as necessary.
Maintain communication with operating team informing the chip mill manager of any operational changes, challenges or needs.
Maintain and manage wood supply around the chipper ring in an organized, safe, and efficient manner, maximizing the available space and minimizing material handling.
Monitor and respond to raw material feeding requirement for the chipper maintaining chip quality and efficient operation, adjusting as necessary.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
Previous operating equipment experience preferred.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems, processes and maintenance with preference given to experience and understanding of forestry or construction equipment.
Must act in a professional manner and have a positive attitude.
Must maintain a valid state driver’s license
