Child Development Assistant Job Description This role supports the Discovery Club by working with school‑age children ages 5‑12 (and for subsidized sites, infants/toddlers ages 0‑3 and preschoolers 3‑5).
Qualifications
Proof of Associate Teacher Permit (ATP) from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
Higher education that includes completion of college units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) desirable.
Completion of 6 ECE units desirable (official transcripts required; foreign credentials must be evaluated).
Previous experience working with school‑age children ages 5‑12.
For subsidized sites (Northridge, Mariposa and Carmichael) the candidate must hold an ATP or provide documentation meeting ATP qualifications, including official transcripts and proof of at least 50 days of instructional experience (3 hours per day within the last 2 years).
Materials Required / Requirements
Completed application listing relevant experience, education, and training.
One of the following: ATP permit, or if not holding a permit, official transcripts proving 2 years of college credits (48 semester/60 quarter units) with at least 12 ECE/Child Development courses, and official documentation of 50 days of instructional experience.
