Responsibilities
Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
Unload rail cars and perform railcar movements (empty and full) on the property to maximize unloading efficiency and minimize demurrage risk.
Maintain mobile equipment correctly, including tire inflation, brakes, water and oil pressure checks.
Lubricate various mobile equipment and terminal machinery.
Operate a skid‑steer/bobcat, utility vehicle, and track mobile/shuttle wagon.
Perform preventive maintenance checks and services.
Maintain housekeeping of terminal, equipment, and overall workplace.
Inspect equipment and machinery visually to ensure proper operation or identify needed repairs.
Provide backup for the lead position and cross‑train to learn these duties.
Cross‑train to load and ticket trucks.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.
Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Proper personal protective equipment, including hearing protection as required.
Proficient in effective written English, verbal communication, and listening skills with fellow employees, railroad representatives, drivers, customers, and over the radio.
Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility.
Operate railcar mover (shuttle wagon/track mobile).
Manual dexterity to use air, electrical and hand tools such as chipping guns, jackhammers, wrenches, grinders and drills of all sizes.
Ability to work in a busy environment.
Understand lockout procedure and safety requirements.
Willingness to work in a team environment.
Excellent personal safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
Knowledge of all relevant safety regulations and a solid commitment to safety.
Promote proper safety practices and accident prevention.
Strong analytical and mechanical skills.
Excellent work ethic – high standard of performance and production.
Must understand and comply with all safety requirements, including lockout, tagout, tieout, fall protection standards, PPE, etc.
Work Environment Work will be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoors with exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, noise, and high elevations up to 250 feet. Exposure to all weather conditions and vibration from mobile equipment are possible.
