Customer Service Representative
– Gerdau North America
Basic Function This position is responsible for entering and managing orders to ensure timely and accurate orders are delivered to customers and customers are satisfied.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
50%:
Sales Order Management Activities (SOM) – Order creation, reconfirmation, delivery creation and shipment creation activities, including taking customer orders (via call or email), product and timeframe identification, price confirmation, managing changes, scheduling shipments, and identifying cross‑sell and upsell opportunities.
10%:
Coordinate with Fulfillment and Customer Service Manager to find availability of materials and identify alternatives to fulfill orders.
15%:
Create account set‑up details, including credit, logistics, and product information (e.g., SKUs).
15%:
Generate internal and external reports to understand order status and identify gaps.
10%:
Open and process customer complaints (price, quality, and logistics) and follow up.
Scope This position supports a specific product line or group of customers, handling volume that ranges between 46,000 and 87,000 tons and serving 27 to 170 different customers. Knowledge of mill and logistics operations, forecast planning, inventory management concepts, shipping, and customer service principles is required.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements
2‑year degree or 1–3 years of experience in an office or related environment.
Experience with MS Office suite; preferred experience in data entry, customer service, and telesales.
