Provides support as a member of the Bakery team to include receiving and preparing product, maintaining the Bakery area and displays, and selling product in support of WFM standards. Performs all functions related to breaking down deliveries and stocking shelves. Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. Follow store Standard Operating Procedures and be prepared to perform duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. Engage with customers on the floor, assist with on-floor service and operations as needed. Maintain fresh and appealing displays by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products. Stock and clean shelves, bins, and display areas; monitor spoilage and communicate waste to buyers and supervisors. Maintain back stock in good order and assist with sampling and periodic inventory checks. Arrive on time, groomed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings. Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly, and use appropriate suggestive selling techniques. Maximize sales through proper prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of product. Follow or ensure compliance with health, sanitation, weights and measures, and safe work practices. Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensure equipment is kept in safety standards. Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing. Report safety hazards and violations immediately. Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership. Job Skills
Ability to sell proactively. Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness. Proactively reads labels and familiarizes oneself with various products. Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team. Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to Team Members, customers, and vendors. Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions. Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills. Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market. No prior retail experience required. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours. Hand use: grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure to temperatures below freezing to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Ability to work in wet and dry conditions. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery. May require use of ladders. Notes
The wage range for this position is $15.00-$24.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers benefits.
