Job Summary Police Dispatcher Analyst III is the most senior dispatcher working directly with the Dallas Police Department, providing oversight of information through the Computer Aided Dispatch system to responding Police Dispatchers and assisting in training, process improvement, and upskilling of Police Dispatcher Analysts.

Essential Functions

Analyzes all data and communication received to strategically assign, broadcast, and monitor all police calls according to the nature of the emergency.

Analyzes the response plans and allocates appropriate resources in the Dispatchers team to ensure each case has been addressed in a timely manner.

Continues supporting the field troops as needed, escalating to department supervisors in emergencies and during high volume situations to secure responding resources for police officers.

Evaluates the daily progress of Police Dispatcher Analysts; identifies performance gaps, makes recommendations regarding Dispatch Analysts’ performance, continuous improvements, and delivers appropriate training with the Training Supervisor.

Provides peer guidance regarding emergency and technical procedures.

Maintains constant status of field units and updates dispatch information utilizing the various emergency communications technologies.

Keeps appropriate data and provides data analysis on overall team performance, resource utilization and response time, creating reports as required.

Notifies and receives police related information from other police divisions or agencies to ensure information is shared and disseminated promptly.

Informs field officers of major incidents, hazardous situations, or locations where such information will be beneficial to the safety of citizens and first responders.

Handles upgrades and systems operations and equipment maintenance, computer terminals, and varying emergency communications technologies to ensure all communications equipment is utilized, in operating conditions, and optimized to the maximum of their capacity.

Engages with all police personnel and Supervisors at all times to ensure prompt allocation of resources per incident category and dispatches additional help as appropriate.

Utilizes, optimizes and makes recommendations on local, state and national law enforcement databases, providing immediate and updated critical information to first responders.

Exercises independent judgement in interpreting information and makes decisions in critical situations, managing stress in a high volume environment.

Reads, navigates, interprets, and explains various mapping applications. Reports to work during inclement weather and/or when staffing requires additional coverage in the emergency unit’s 24x7x365 operations.

Performs other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge And Skills

Knowledge of principles and practices of training on emotional agility and stress management.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and motivate other Dispatch Analysts.

Excellent knowledge of geographic layout of the City of Dallas.

Skill in providing constructive feedback, recognizing and addressing negative behaviors in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience

Eight (8) years of experience in a high demand heavy traffic customer interface environment, with at least six (6) years’ experience as an emergency security dispatch analyst in a large municipality and two (2) years as a business/data analyst in a public safety and emergency communication field or as a Police Dispatcher Analyst.

Licenses and Certifications

Must have NCIC/TCIC/CJIS certification.

Must have Master Telecommunicator’s License from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

Must have Dallas Police Communications Training Officer (CTO) Certification.

Must have Emergency Police Dispatch Certificate.

Must have Expediter / Service Desk Personnel License.

Other Requirements

Must be a United States citizen.

Availability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Must pass an intensive background investigation and drug test.

No Felony or Class A Misdemeanor convictions or a current Felony, Class A or Class B Misdemeanor deferred adjudication.

No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years.

No family violence convictions.

Salary Range $58,800.09 - $70,582.62. The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend on qualifications.
