Effective Date 8/5/2022 – This position is eligible for a tiered $4,000.00 sign‑on/retention bonus.

Responsibilities Responsible for taking applications, completing redeterminations and/or changes for the Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid and/or Work First Assistance Programs or the Child Care Subsidy program. Performs in‑depth assessments as well as gathering and documenting information. Assess accuracy of information received to determine eligibility. Informs clients of all available programs and makes referrals to appropriate programs or agencies. Keeps abreast of policies and procedures governing all programs. Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and process a high volume of applications. Responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with community stakeholders. Responsible for adhering to Federal, State, and Local performance measures are essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment.

General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.

Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.

Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees.

Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.

Bilingual skills preferred.

Requirements One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or a degree from an accredited college or university; or an associate's degree in accounting, business administration, human services, secretarial science or closely related field and at least two years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, obtaining, analyzing and/or evaluating data; or a high school diploma and at least five years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, obtaining, analyzing and/or evaluating data.

Candidates will be required to pass NC FAST Certification training upon hire.
