Overview Ensure meat is wrapped, weighed, and priced properly. Operate wrapping machines, provide exceptional customer service, and maintain cleanliness of the department and equipment. Shifts are 6‑8 hours, typically from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Typical Duties And Responsibilities
Welcome, engage, and thank customers, creating a friendly atmosphere.
Provide fast, friendly, and courteous service.
Answer customer questions and engage in suggestive selling.
Weigh, tray, grind, wrap, and price poultry and meat.
Prevent sale of spoiled or outdated product by following legal and company policies.
Merchandise products, maintain inventory levels, and ensure eye‑appeal.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and cutting room.
Stock and rotate products as needed.
Move product trays between racks to consolidate.
Clean mirrors and glass surfaces.
Assist Meat Cutters and the Department Manager with related tasks.
Participate in a Meat Cutter training program to learn basic cutting skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain friendly, courteous, and tactful interactions with customers and coworkers.
Perform visual inspections and read production guides and labels.
Use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
Handle food products per state and county regulations and WinCo standards.
Read and follow written assignments and instructions.
Communicate effectively in hearing and speech while on the sales floor.
Reach, lift, and maneuver objects up to approximately 25 lb frequently and 30–60 lb occasionally.
Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Perform repetitive arm movements for wrapping, slicing, and processing.
Stand for long periods and move rapidly, bending, twisting, and turning frequently.
Operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
Work in refrigerated areas (32–50 °F) for prolonged periods.
Handle hands exposed to moisture while stocking poultry and meat.
Learn product variability, perishability, safety, sanitation procedures, and departmental policies.
Perform basic math and compute weights and measures.
Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other PPE as required.
Complete primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
Additional Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).
Machines And Equipment Operated
Scales, wrapping machines, slicers, cubers, pallet jacks, bailer, and hand trucks.
