Fab Operator – 1st Shift – Lucas, KS
Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking an experienced
1st Shift Fabrication Operator
for our facility in Lucas, KS.
This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, roller, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, punch machines, laser cutting, CNC plasma; that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.
Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, template, or computer program.
Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction and report as needed.
Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
Assist machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of laser, saw, punch press and press brake operations
Understanding of product structure and usage of AS400
Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications
Dedication to ensure products meet or exceed specifications as part of our quality program
Must be flexible to be crossed trained in different areas of the shop as required
