People selected for a Production Operator position may be placed in various roles within the production process of our Crown Health Care Laundry plant, either in Soil or Clean areas. Assignments are determined by hiring needs and production levels. Pay rates and scheduled work hours are based on the area assigned.
Base Pay Range $11.50/hr – $12.00/hr
Employees are required to learn all equipment and rotate as needed. A typical learning curve for each position is 2‑5 working days with standards met within two weeks of hire.
Responsibilities Soil Operations
Open customer returned soil bags (~45 lbs each) and pre‑sort classifications. Production standard: 45 bags or 2000 lbs opened per hour per operator.
Float between multiple positions on the work platform, sorting into appropriate bins or slots as part of a team operation.
Move empty carts to the appropriate cleaning area.
Assist cart cleaners in ensuring that returned soiled laundry is cleaned, sterilized, dried and lined for use on the Clean side.
Clean Operations Catcher
Secure linen carts, stack and build carts per company standards.
Remove linens from the Folder machine, count and stack them, push full baskets to next staging area.
Secure carts, push/pull and place them into position.
Catch items from up to six stations; contact maintenance if jams occur (only maintenance or production managers may pull jams).
Take empty carts to dryer area and bring a new cart back to work area.
Adhere to quality standards in quantity and stacking; remove non‑company items or items with stains or tears.
Hand Fold
Take items as they exit the washer or presser, fold, stack and place onto the appropriate cart or belt.
Identify the number of items per stack during on‑the‑job training.
Adjust cart to comfortable waist level, fold items, place on countertop; perform group folding for larger items as required.
Fill the cart methodically and move it to the next work area.
Make quality decisions such as identifying holes, tears or stains and removing non‑company products.
Ironer
Bend down and lift flat sheets, blankets or pillowcases, feed them into the ironer machines.
Feed sheets into spreader and then into the ironer; coordinate with up to four people for pillowcases.
Decide when items go into the re‑wash basket based on guidelines (hole, stain, etc.).
If a machine is stuck or not functioning, call for maintenance while adhering to all safety requirements.
Shipping Clerk
Fill finished carts of clean, processed linen; prepare them for shipment and ensure accurate weighing.
Secure records of orders, attach copies of order forms to cart sides, and track filled orders throughout the day.
Walk plant to locate finished carts, roll them to weighing area, record weights into the shipping software, and load delivery trucks as required.
Fill in for other positions (e.g., production operator, builder) as needed.
Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn new applications.
Qualities & Qualifications
High School Education or GED preferred.
Excellent teamwork skills; willingness to rotate between all jobs.
Good record‑keeping and analytical skills.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
Risk of requiring a Hep B shot for Shipping Clerk role.
