Job Summary

Help with stock selection, story, research, location survey, physical inventory, material handling, material examining and identifying, packing and operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Responsibilities

Receive, unload and process incoming shipments. Check documentation against container or packing labels and follow established procedures in reporting over, short, misdirected or damaged materials. Packs and/or preserves a variety of items, determining the necessary materials, containers, devices and preservatives. Assemble items for shipment in the loading area according to shipping requests, checking the condition of shipping containers prior to loading and ensuring shipments are properly loaded onto the right conveyances. Count types and quantities of items during inventories, maintaining tally listings and recounting or searching other storage locations to assist in determining the basis for over, short or misplaced items. Operate one or more types of material handling equipment such as standard forklift with a lifting capacity up to 15,000 pounds, warehouse tractor or general‑purpose vehicle. Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen. Tour of Duty: Set Schedule. Security Requirements: Non‑Sensitive. Appointment subject to favorable suitability or fitness determination. Background checks must be favorable. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non‑Exempt. Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered or exempt. Bargaining Unit Status: Yes. Pre‑Employment Physical: Required. Require REAL ID or equivalent for federal facility access. Must obtain and maintain Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license. Valid state driver’s license or certification to operate government vehicles. Qualifications

Applicants will be rated according to the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Minimum qualifications: Ability to perform the work of a Distribution Process Worker without more than normal supervision (Screen‑Out Element). Experience in receiving, verifying, loading, unloading and packing materials is required. Physical Effort

Stands on hard surfaces for extended periods, lifts items up to 40 pounds, uses material handling equipment and works in hot, damp, cold or poorly lit environments. Working Conditions

Exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, noise and falls. Protective clothing required. Common material routing conveyors present.
