Fixed Route Bus Operator (Regular Part-Time) (Grade 09/8) (Continuous) The City of Huntsville’s Public Transit department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our Fixed Route Bus Operator (Part-time) position(s). This is skilled work in the operation of medium duty transit buses on fixed routes, including driving a medium duty shuttle bus on a fixed route, transporting passengers safely, courteously, and professionally. The role also includes conducting daily vehicle inspections, collecting fares, providing information, and performing basic record keeping duties. Responsibilities
Operate medium duty transit buses on fixed routes in a safe, courteous, and professional manner. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs. Collect fares from customers and provide information as needed. Perform basic record keeping related to routes and operations. Qualifications And Special Requirements
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate; or any combination of education, training and experience with substantial experience in driving light duty buses and serving the public on fixed routes. Valid Class D Driver's License required at hire. Must obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (minimum), with Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsements within 90 days of hire or promotion.
