Summary of Position The Shift Leader assists the Assistant Manager and General Manager with management activities and duties, ensuring all activities support the restaurant’s business plan. The Shift Leader ensures all Team Members perform their duties and meet expectations.
Essential Duties
Take necessary action to ensure outstanding hospitality service; anticipate and exceed guest needs; handle situations and requests immediately in a positive manner.
Effectively “path” the restaurant to monitor all aspects of operations, anticipate problems, and take initiative to correct issues immediately.
Consistently enforce and maintain all quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
Monitor and maintain proper staffing levels and labor costs.
Create a friendly atmosphere for Team Members and Guests.
Effectively train and provide direction and supervision for Team Members.
Support efforts to maximize sales and profits and minimize controllable costs.
Effectively plan, organize, and implement all operational routines and activities during the shift.
Maintain a cooperative, harmonious working relationship with management and fellow team members.
Ensure all sanitation, safety, and security policies and procedures are observed and enforced.
Ensure personal appearance meets company standards and displays professionalism at all times.
Recognize and adhere to all HR, sanitation, safety and security policies and procedures to provide a safe and compliant environment for all.
Perform other tasks as directed by management.
Physical Requirements
Stand for long periods of time.
Work around high temperatures.
Work around others in close quarters.
Able to lift 50 pounds comfortably.
Work with various cleaning products.
Experience
Minimum 18 years old.
Willing to work flexible hours, including opening and closing shifts.
Reliable transportation and method of communication with the restaurant (e.g., phone or email).
Competencies
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to maintain the respect of your team.
Guest‑driven focus.
Ability to effectively make decisions under pressure, while delegating tasks appropriately.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to work with others as a team.
Ability to meet performance standards.
Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
