Position Summary: This position is responsible for accurately and courteously meeting new and existing customer account needs; performing all new account opening and account maintenance; maintaining and processing teller transactions; actively supporting and cross‑selling bank products/services; and maintaining accurate cash and transaction records.
Key Responsibilities
Customer account services: Provide account services to bank customers, including opening new checking, savings, certificate of deposit, IRA CDs and IRA savings accounts, HSA checking and savings accounts, safe‑deposit boxes, notarizing documents, and other new account services. Application and issuance of ATM/debit cards, customer checks, and follow‑up on new account openings are performed in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
Assist with certificate of deposit maturities (renewals, reinvestments, redemptions, etc.).
Respond to customer inquiries and resolve account problems; refer to Branch Manager for complex openings.
Act as liaison between customers and other bank departments.
Customer transactions: Provide prompt, courteous and efficient service to branch customers. Process teller and account transactions, accurately settle cash drawer, and maintain good daily work order. Refer complex issues to Head Teller or Branch Manager.
Support bank products/services: Maintain knowledge of current Kennebec Savings Bank products and services. Actively utilize and explain products and services to customers, encouraging cross‑selling and making referrals to appropriate bank lines.
Branch operations: Open and close the branch in accordance with procedures and rotation schedule; record paperwork for new accounts; maintain daily work order.
Branch back‑up: Perform other branch functions as assigned to meet customer or operational needs, including working at other branches.
Community/public relations: Actively participate in community organizations and events, representing the bank in the community.
Other duties: Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. Work at other bank branches as needed for customer service, operational or training purposes. Attend bank meetings and internal/external training. Understand and fully comply with Kennebec Savings Bank’s Core Values. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 1‑3 years of branch banking experience as a teller/head teller or customer service representative, or other customer service experience.
Computer literacy with specific experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Other Requirements
Ability to lift cash boxes and cash bags (~20 pounds).
Distinguish between various denominations of coin and currency.
Operate vault combinations.
Read and work with computer print‑out reports.
Stand or sit for extended periods while waiting on customers.
Operate computer keyboard and monitor for extended periods.
Use telephone to converse with customers for extended periods, communicate clearly and listen effectively.
Prioritize and organize workflow; pay high attention to detail; handle multiple jobs.
Think through problems, follow proper steps for resolution.
Maintain a high degree of ethics and confidentiality of customers and accounts.
Friendly, courteous and sensitive to needs of customers and coworkers.
