Quality Control Technician - Days
Toyota Boshoku America
Responsibilities
Ensure that daily process and product audits are performed, sampling inspections and data collection is maintained.
Ensure overall adherence to the quality system including the nonconformance area, quality report, and data control.
Responsible for verification of sampled in-process parts and all last‑piece parts in assigned area to determine quality requirements have been met.
Assimilate and investigate defect information as needed.
Perform final inspection of designated parts per Quality Gate Instructions prior to shipment to customers.
Perform continuous improvement activities with manufacturing as needed.
Perform product/process audits per designated schedule.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
3 to 5 years of Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, quality control methods, and statistical process control (SPC) preferred.
Automotive industry experience preferred.
Experience with Toyota launch systems and requirements preferred.
Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred.
Personal/Technical Skills
Working knowledge of quality audit techniques.
Basic shop math ability required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Understanding of conceptual math required (basic geometry, charts and graphs).
General understanding and working knowledge of product design specifications, quality standards of finished product and parts/materials used.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings, GD&T, ECI, PPR, and color instructions.
Effective time‑management skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong organization and planning skills.
Excellent critical thinking skills required.
Ability to understand inspection standards.
Hands‑on, self‑starter with a strong work ethic.
Active listener with effective communication skills.
Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural work environment.
Ability to maintain records and files and prepare recaps and reports.
Ability to maintain on‑call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.
Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.
Ability to multitask and facilitate effective problem solving and resolution.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to use CMM type measuring devices preferred.
Language Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Computer/Software
Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Open office environment, moderate noise level.
Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (e.g., safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection) may be required.
Must be able to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time.
Capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods; may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
