Summary/Objectives A Teller has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges encountered in the operation of their assigned position.
Essential Functions
Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards.
Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, regulations, price structure, and definitions of each service.
Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues; seeks opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the position goals.
Presents a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
Assesses and effectively manages all risks associated with the job function; ensures compliance with banking regulations including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
Develops a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and can discuss and enroll customers in self‑service options.
Performs the following teller duties:
Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Assists in guiding and training new tellers as needed.
Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes.
Cash checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits and following prescribed procedures.
Sells certified checks within assigned limits.
Balances transactions daily.
Services or balances ATM as required.
Utilizes the branch capture system when appropriate.
Follows policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain proper workflow.
Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and understands the function and operation of security devices.
Teller 1 Functions
18 months or less experience.
Teller duties as listed above.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Cash handling, sales, customer service. Previous banking experience preferred.
Specific Knowledge: Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Training Requirements
The SouthState Way New Team Member Orientation.
Teller Foundations.
All assigned Regulatory Compliance Training.
Acknowledgement of all policies through DocuSign as assigned.
Additional training may be required depending on experience.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and/or sit for long periods, effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers.
Work Environment This position is most likely located in an open lobby area with an individual workstation inside a cooled and heated facility, with access to a break room or restroom during breaks.
Travel Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.
