The Food Service Worker, under general supervision and in accordance with specific instructions, prepares food and work areas for serving food and beverages to patients, visitors, and staff. Greets customers, fills customer orders and responds to concerns. Education
Work requires a level of math and English as normally acquired through the completion of an eighth-grade education. Work requires the ability to read and follow instructions. Licensure/Certifications
None. Serve safe sanitation class desirable Experience
Requires one to three months on-the-job orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department policies and procedures, work routines, and to learn to operate area-specific equipment. Previous work experience in food service is preferred Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of operating kitchen/cafeteria equipment according to area of assignment (i.e., cafeteria, trayline, sanitation, storeroom, production, Grille 601, catering, Corridor Cafe). Examples include: steam table, dishmachine, coffee urn, soda dispenser, grill, toaster, pizza oven, food slicer, warmer, trash bins, and similar equipment. Requires the ability to operate standard kitchen machinery and read menus, work schedules and prices. Requires ability to interact effectively with hospital patients, visitors, and staff and to provide courteous service. Requires flexibility to cross-train in various positions. Shift
Full-Time (40 hours per week) Rotating Shift Weekend work required Non-Exempt
