Mobile Maintenance Technician
– Element Resources
Overview The position is responsible for service, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of mobile equipment in a demanding work environment. The successful candidate must have knowledge of diesel, gas, and propane engines as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic problems.
Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) service on various types of mobile equipment from forklifts to front‑end loaders.
Troubleshoot and repair mobile equipment electrical systems.
Troubleshoot and repair mobile equipment hydraulic systems.
Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gas, and propane engines.
Maintain proper spare parts inventory.
Respond to customer needs in a professional manner.
Qualifications SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate with employees that are not knowledgeable about troubleshooting mobile equipment.
High school education or GED required.
Four years of experience working as a diesel mechanic a plus.
A minimum of one ASE certification required (Truck Equipment Installation and Repair, Electrical/Electronic Systems Installation and Repair, or Auxiliary Power Systems Installation and Repair).
Knowledge of hydraulic system operation and maintenance.
Must be able to demonstrate welding ability and obtain and maintain certifications.
Understand safe work practices when working on and around mobile equipment.
Capable of reading and understanding equipment manuals and blueprints.
Skilled in the operation of measurement tools including tape measure, micrometers, snap gauges, etc.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to communicate with vendors and order parts; prior inventory management a plus.
Indiana driver’s license.
Experience with Maintenance Software MP2 a plus.
Operation of yard dogs, forklifts, front‑end loaders, mobile cranes (up to 18 tons).
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity.
Noise levels in the manufacturing facility are usually high.
All employees are required to wear full‑face respirators inside the manufacturing facility.
Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
