Responsibilities The RN / MDS COORDINATOR manages the overall process and tracking of all Medicare/Medicaid case‑mix documents to ensure appropriate reimbursement for all services provided within the nursing unit. The role maintains the schedule of all MDS assessments, ensuring proper reference dates throughout the patient stay and overseeing accurate, timely submission of MDS, OBRA, and PDPM assessments. The coordinator performs concurrent MDS review to capture appropriate clinical information, identifies opportunities to enhance reimbursement, and ensures accurate documentation to support coding and prevent revenue recoupment on audits. The coordinator communicates case‑mix data required for billing to the Business Office and serves as the nursing center resource for MDS/HIPPS and state case‑mix systems, providing staff education and instruction on MDS terminology, format, and accurate care plans.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN licensure in the state of employment.
One year of long‑term care clinical nursing experience.
Experience with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, MDS completion, clinical resource utilization, and/or case management is highly desirable.
Current BLS/CPR certification (excluding ALFs/ILFs).
Evidence of COVID‑19 vaccination required for all Vantage personnel and affiliates present at a facility; religious and medical exemptions provided in accordance with applicable laws.
