What You Need to Apply:

Required Master's Degree in a mental health‑related field from an accredited institution, plus one‑year experience in a psychiatric setting.

Required Bachelor's Degree in a mental health‑related field from an accredited institution, plus three years of experience in mental health, one of which is in a crisis or acute care setting.

Completion of NJDMHS Crisis Training Certification, or eligibility to take this examination.

Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean five‑year driving record that meets organizational standards and qualifies for insurance coverage.

Ability to work overnight hours.

Position Overview: As a

Certified Screener , you will be responsible for providing face‑to‑face emergency screenings, evaluations, and crisis interventions to adults and children in the community and hospital. You will help assess mental health crises and provide stabilization and support.

Demonstrates competency in delivering Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Universal Substance Abuse Screening, effectively engaging individuals served through engagement, assessment, and intervention.

What Does This Position Look Like? Certified Screeners answer the hotline to assist with phone referrals, provide therapeutic interventions, and advise on face‑to‑face evaluations. You will be responsible for conducting screenings and evaluations, stabilizing clients in crisis, and documenting all telephone and face‑to‑face contacts. In addition, you will participate in training, supervision, and employee development activities as recommended by the Director of the Program.

A Background Check is required. Clear Five year driving record/abstract with ability to be insured by organization's carrier.
