GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, provides customer service to individuals to ensure that qualifications and needs for employment and training services are met. Ensure business needs are met by developing and filling employment needs and offering and providing DWS agency information and coordinated services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

Provides services to individuals by coordinating and executing a broad range of individual services in accordance with Federal and State program guidelines, policies, and regulations.

Develops, manages, and monitors a caseload of participants enrolled in state and federal programs.

Confers with employers to develop and fill employment and vocational training openings.

Refer applicants to employment or other community resources.

Assesses and evaluates client skills, education, and training.

Assists direct and counsels claimants and job applicants.

Interviews assess and evaluate customers to meet employment, training, and vocational needs.

Enters and monitors data in electronic systems for job postings, candidate file searches, and program reporting.

Assists direct and counsels business customers on the multitude of DWS coordinated business services, training grants, and resources.

Provides on-site visits to businesses to understand employer needs, operations, and job openings.

Organizes and participates in community events designed to connect business needs and job seekers and advance DWS services to both.

Works with Program Staff to ensure compliance with Department of Labor case management standards.

Refers applicants to employers and follows up on the hiring process.

Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in federal programs.

Preference may be given to candidates with customer service experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with a valid driver's license.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience building and maintaining relationships with community partners.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of state and federal statutes relative to employment and Agency programs.

Knowledge of departmental policies, customer service standards, and inter-agency protocols.

Knowledge of labor market information for the State of Wyoming and the skill to obtain current employment and job resource information using a variety of multimedia resources, particularly Internet services.

Knowledge of administering and interpreting interest, skills, and proficiency tools and of assessing employment issues and limitations.

Knowledge of case management practices to determine needs, create reasonable plans, and follow clients through successful program completion.

Skills in public speaking, oral, written, and electronic communication, and record-keeping.

Skills in establishing rapport with partner services, and respect established protocol with government agencies and their staff.

Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Ability to actively listen to others in order to foster a positive exchange of information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Business or Human Services)

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business or Human Services)

OR

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business or Human Services)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Occasional travel throughout Sheridan and the surrounding communities may be required.
