Base Pay Range
$60,000 - $80,000 per year
Company Overview Amundsen Davis, a full‑service, business‑and‑litigation law firm headquartered in Chicago, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its Construction team. The firm employs over 260 attorneys and offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities
Provide general office support for construction attorneys, including file maintenance, calendar management, expense reporting, invoicing, deposition scheduling, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.
Set up new clients and matters: run conflict checks and prepare engagement letters.
Prepare and finalize basic correspondence and other documents, ensuring formatting, consistency, and accuracy for high‑profile, time‑sensitive work.
Calculate, calendar, and track court and other filing deadlines.
Format, proofread, and finalize detailed correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents for e‑filing.
Organize paper and electronic filing systems, create and convert documents, and maintain format.
File pleadings in state and federal courts, courts of appeals, and Supreme Courts; communicate with court staff as necessary; stay current with changes in court rules and filing procedures.
Perform general research and support activities to assist attorneys.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as a legal assistant in a private law firm.
Construction law experience preferred.
High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and document management systems.
Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
Excellent internal and external client service skills.
Clear, concise communication with a solution‑oriented approach.
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
