The Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS), North Central Secure Treatment Unit is seeking a caring and dedicated Social Worker 2. If you want to make a difference every day by preparing youth for successful transition back to the community, this role is for you!
Description of Work
Coordinate and implement transitional services at NCSTU, ensuring successful transition of youth back into the community.
Lead the active process of discharge planning, establish a network of community‑based aftercare resources, and conduct follow‑ups after youth leave the Youth Development Center/Youth Forestry Camp system.
Provide consultative services to other employees, youth, family members, and community agencies.
Counsel treatment groups about transitional issues, attend court hearings as necessary, and escort residents to and from activities, clinics, and appointments.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours: 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM (30‑minute lunch) four days per week; 12:00 PM‑8:00 PM (30‑minute lunch) one day per week.
Schedule may change based on operational needs.
Overtime and travel as needed.
Free parking.
No telework option.
Starting annual salary $59,345.00 (before taxes) for new Commonwealth employees.
Qualifications
Two years of experience as Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) or equivalent, with continuous Commonwealth employment; or
Two years as Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 with a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, with a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
A master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
Within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree is acceptable.
Other Requirements
Willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit, Danville, PA.
Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Conditional offer requires medical exam and drug screening.
Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports: PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, FBI fingerprint clearance.
