New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service
Office Assistant 1 (Stores and Mail)
New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service, Cape Vincent, New York, United States
Description
You would spend most of your work time assisting the Office Assistant 2 with inventory control and distribution, storage, and stores keeping in the facility storehouse and/or commissary locations. You will also assist with instructing incarcerated individual workers in their daily duties. You may be required to routinely lift and/or carry heavy items and to routinely reach, bend, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: You must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of appointment and throughout your employment with New York State. If appointed, you must produce documents that establish your identity and eligibility to work in the United States, as required by the federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, and the Immigration and Nationality Act. Additional Comments
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non‑competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
