Social Worker (MSW, LCSW) – PRN
Location: Riley Hospital Shift: PRN (As Needed) – May include on-call and holiday rotations

Position Overview This PRN Social Worker will meet face-to-face with patients and families, collaborating across disciplines to ensure safe and effective care. Responsibilities include:
Developing patient and family education materials and serving as a role model for students, interns, LBSWs, and LSWs
Assisting in treatment plan development to resolve psychosocial issues and meet patient needs
Communicating complex patient/family needs and modeling caring practices
Assessing psychosocial risk factors, prior functioning, and support systems
Counseling on emotional, social, and financial impacts of illness/disability
Mobilizing community and family resources to meet patient needs
Conducting mental health assessments upon physician referral
Facilitating complex discharge planning and crisis intervention
Serving as a point person for child abuse/neglect, elder abuse, domestic violence, and institutional abuse cases
Acting as liaison with child and adult protective services (APS/DCS) and community agencies
Providing specialized mental health services, including crisis and addiction assessments and psychiatric referrals
Supporting acute crisis situations using de-escalation techniques to prevent violence
Interviewing victims, perpetrators, and family members with sensitivity and professionalism
Providing intervention related to guardianship, foster care, adoption, and end-of-life issues
Qualifications & Requirements Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
Licensure: Permanent LCSW licensure required.
Certifications: Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent de-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
Experience: Relevant experience in hospital, mental health, or community-based settings preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
Evidence-based psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention techniques
Knowledge of disease processes, human behavior, and social needs across the lifespan
Complex discharge planning skills
Familiarity with legal mandates for protective services
Ability to adapt services to diverse populations based on geography, culture, and finances
Strong relationships with hospital staff, law enforcement, community agencies, and families
Computer literacy and proficiency in electronic medical records
