Overview

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one vacancy for the classification of Community Health Nurse I/II in the Tuberculosis Clinic in the Primary and Preventive Care Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies in this classification for the Tuberculosis Clinic for up to four months. This recruitment will close on or before the date list above, once a sufficient number of qualified applicants have been identified. To perform public/community health nursing services in clinics, homes and in the community; and to provide community and client centered counseling, education and information concerning illnesses. Education and Training

Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing, or equivalent registered nurse experience. The District will accept two years of registered nursing experience in lieu of a bachelor\'s degree. Experience

One year of general registered nursing experience preferably within the last five years. The one year requirement may be waived when a Bachelor of Science in Nursing has been obtained within the last two years with coursework in Community Health Nursing. License or Certificate

Possession of an appropriate, valid State Registered Nurse license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid BLS/CPR certificate within six (6) months of employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver’s license. Community Health Nurse II

Education and Training

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing or equivalent registered nursing education, training, and experience. Experience

Two (2) years’ experience as a registered nurse that includes a minimum of one (1) year of community health nursing experience, preferable within the last five (5) years. Community Health Nursing is defined as a nursing assignment in a community based program such as those in school nursing, jails/prisons, industrial settings, home visits, case management, or community outreach programs associated with hospitals. Private physicians’ offices and hospital settings are not considered a part of community health unless there is an outreach aspect which the candidate has been assigned to for a minimum of one year. License or Certificate
