The Food Service Worker for U.S.VETS is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of server line. This position reports directly to the Food Service Coordinator

Responsibilities

Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.

Prepare simple food items, such as sandwiches, toast, coffee, using proper food handling techniques; may assist with the preparation of vegetables, fresh fruits and other foods.

Serve food according to funders and clients nutritional requirements.

Responsible for the operation of the food service line.

Set up for serving and serves a wide variety of meals.

Participate in the cleaning and storing of dishes, utensils, food service equipment, and food supplies.

Clean work areas and dispose of refuse.

Assist with packaging and loading food for transport to U.S.VETS functions.

Sweep floors, wipe tables and counters, fill supplies for next day and perform general clean-up tasks.

May perform baking duties as necessary.

Supervise Veteran helpers on workstations or community service.

Perform assigned duties in a safe manner.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Three to six months in food handling preferred.

Experience working with homeless veterans preferred.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community members.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Must possess Food Handlers Health Card.

Must be knowledgeable of food handling procedures and protocols.

Driver license with no violations on driving record for past 3 years required.
