Installation Technician ET Communication
The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking an Electronics Technician – External Communications to support our growing technology business in Virginia Beach. This position will focus on our USCG business supporting external communications system upgrades.
Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, calibrate, tune, and adjust electronic equipment used for external communications.
Handle systems that send and receive high‑frequency (HF), very high‑frequency (VHF), and ultra‑high‑frequency (UHF) radio and satellite communications.
Perform organizational level maintenance on external communications systems and associated equipment, including antennas and ancillary gear.
Use schematics, diagrams, and testing equipment to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in complex electronic components and systems.
Install and inspect various communication circuits, equipment racks, and associated cabling, sometimes involving fiber optics and soldering.
Qualifications
Minimum five years of electronic maintenance, repair, or installation work.
Proficiency using basic hand and power tools.
Flexibility for periodic travel and overnight stays when required.
Ability to pass a security clearance check, criminal background check, drug test, and have a clean driver’s record.
Capability to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs.
