Purpose of the Position Coordinator Locomotive Operations Support is responsible for the management of all locomotive related service interruptions on the CPKC system. Coordinates the handling of bad order CPKC locomotives to system repair facilities. Consults with foreign carriers on the routing for movements back to CPKC. Assures compliance of Federal Railroad Association (FRA) rules regarding mechanical operations.
Position Accountabilities
Troubleshoot mechanical issues with train crews via radio communication
Lead all aspects of mechanical field personnel and advises on appropriate troubleshooting steps with the goal of aiding in the repair of locomotives and freight rail cars line of road
Understand the different types of locomotive defects and the needed repairs to coordinate the routing of locomotives to specific shops for repair
Communicate to mechanical field managers the mechanical issues by providing specific information: train symbol, location of train delayed, description of failure defect, and time mechanical is needed to assist
Lead corrective action plan to train dispatchers, locomotive managers, corridor managers, transportation field managers and CPKC train crews of mechanical delays and plans to resolve them
Lead and coordinates the shopping and routing of captive locomotives to outside points with mechanical and transportation department
Run and updates CPKC locomotive systems and programs
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience preferred
1 year railroad mechanical locomotive background
Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), SAP
Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Strong communication skills (provide clear and concise instructions/directions)
