Grinding Operator – Nights
Royal Canin, a Mars brand, is seeking a Grinding Operator to join our pet‑food manufacturing plant in Fremont, NE. Our focus on cats and dogs and our obsession with detail allow us to deliver precise, effective nutrition.
Job Summary:
The grinding operator will be responsible for efficient operation of grinding machinery, maintaining product quality and safety, and supporting continuous improvement within the area. This position is a full‑time, night shift role that requires strong communication and teamwork.
Compensation & Benefits:

Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and coordination for full shift or multiple process areas, often without a production supervisor assigned.
Ensure daily crewing needs and changes are addressed for optimized operation of area.
Ensure all process reports are accurate, legible and submitted timely.
Meet or exceed plant productivity goals by identifying and directing operational needs.
Monitor all activities on production lines and report downtime to the appropriate department.
Facilitate communication and planning with other leads and operators to ensure timely changeovers and minimize downtime.
Ensure ingredients, supplies and resources are available to keep lines running.
Assess situations early and take effective action to correct and improve.
Resolve conflicts by listening, sharing information and maintaining a positive work climate.
Conduct on‑the‑job training for new associates, covering safety, equipment operation, quality systems and sanitation.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Operate equipment during breaks or fill‑ins as needed.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
Stand on concrete floor for extended periods.
Wear proper personal protective equipment.
Perform repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs.
Be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot vs. cold, dust, dirt and chemicals.
Correct vision to 20/20.
Job Specifications / Qualifications
18 years of age or older.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Willing and able to work varying shifts and schedules.
Effective communication in English.
Knowledge / Experience
1 year of manufacturing experience operating machinery.
1 year of work experience within manufacturing or a technical/trade discipline.
Competency in computer and PC software including MS Office and email.
Knowledge of inventory control principles.
Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift.
