Pharmacy Customer Service Associate – Walgreens

This role is located at Walgreens. The base pay range is $16.00‑$18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Register sales on assigned cash register, providing courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.

Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.

Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.

Share customer‑service best practices with team members, including courtesy habits and Walgreens service traits.

Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.

Recommend items for sale, trade‑up, and companion items to customers.

Register customer purchases on assigned cash register, collect cash, distribute change, and process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed. Assist customers to OTC aisle when possible.

Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required or as directed by the store manager or shift leader.

Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, ensuring correct entry, filling prescriptions, verifying medication accuracy, checking for interactions, and assisting pharmacists in scheduling and workflow.

Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Strictly adhere to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.

Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.

Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Assist and support the Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcohol and tobacco).

Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise, and complete resets and revisions as directed.

Assist with separation of food items and product placement per policies (e.g., raw and frozen meats on bottom shelves). Support stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out method for consumables.

Use store systems and equipment efficiently.

Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, and suggestive selling of promotional photo products.

Assume web pick‑up responsibilities: monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, and deliver orders to customers upon arrival.

Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, ensuring a clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance.

Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or state‑required certification/registration.

Attend training and complete PPLs requested by the Manager or corporate, and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications

Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

At least six months of experience in a retail environment.

Prior work experience with Walgreens.

Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.

Computer proficiency.

Knowledge of store inventory control.

PTCB certification.
