As an Operating Room (OR) Service Assistant, you will assist in transporting patients, setting up the OR for caregivers, and handling medical instruments and equipment.
This is a full‑time position.
Caregivers work the 5:00 am to 1:30 pm shift or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm shift in a rotating schedule.
Responsibilities
Maintain surgical instrument sets and equipment and ensure proper sterile conditions.
Provide limited assistance to surgeons (e.g., holding limb/retractors, suctioning, sponging wounds).
Clean used instruments after surgery, including assembly and maintenance for proper cleaning and sterilization.
Ensure proper sterile conditions, order supplies and stocks, and maintain storage areas in the Operating Room for service.
Assist in transporting patients.
Assist RN in maintaining a safe environment for the patient.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
Sterile Processing Certification.
Two years of experience in sterile processing.
Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and pushes, pulls, and navigates supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $16.25 – Maximum hourly: $23.25.
The pay range reflects the anticipated range for new hires; final compensation will consider experience, skill set, and education.
Shift differentials, overtime, and the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package are not included.
