Engineering Technician Healthcare
Every day physicians rely on Barco's medical displays to show medical images at the highest possible quality to make life‑saving decisions. To help with the development of these displays, the Research & Development department is looking for a creative and hands‑on engineering technician that will be part of an international team. You will be responsible for building prototype displays in different phases of the development as well as building and using laboratory setups to verify their performance. As an engineering technician, you will get in touch with a variety of new technologies and contribute to the future of healthcare.
We are looking for a self‑directed, collaborative, and flexible person with a strong affinity to mechanics, electronics and optics.
This position requires working onsite at the Barco headquarters in Kortrijk, Belgium.
Key responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues in R&D to build display prototypes
Optically, mechanically and electrically test prototype displays to verify and validate their performance
Pro‑actively solve technical problems
Build automated laboratory test setups
Document the development with professional documentation and technical drawings
Our ideal candidate ticks many of the following boxes
A bachelor's degree in electro‑mechanics, or similar by experience
Prior work experience is a plus, but graduates are also welcome
A proactive mindset: takes initiative and drives progress independently
A problem‑solving attitude
Creative with technology and diligent with documentation
Strong communication skills in English
Knowledge about programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or C++) and/or optics is a plus
Comfort with ambiguity: able to work in environments with evolving information
Social fit: values teamwork, openness, and constructive feedback
