Events Coordinator – Michaels Stores

Store: ORL-OVIEDO, FL

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop, and provide a fast checkout experience. Complete operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintain store recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination

Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.

Engage clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.

Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, face painting, and other activities.

Facilitate party add‑ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards.

Communicate event details with clients and store team members.

Complete administrative tasks: answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork.

Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.

Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.

Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.

Uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.

Customer Experience

Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.

Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.

Engage customers in the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card enrollment.

Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.

Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).

Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes.

Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.

Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.

Support shrink and safety programs.

Adhere to SOPs and company programs, ensuring compliance with laws and requirements.

Interact respectfully, remain positive, and promote company vision and values.

Cross‑trained in custom framing selling and production.

Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Energetic, enthusiastic, and personable.

Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and coworkers.

Excellent people, written, verbal, and listening skills.

Experience working with children and children’s events.

Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving skills.

Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, and perform regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.

Lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladder or similar equipment.

Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Work may involve outdoor tasks retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks.

Frame shop work may involve glass cutter and heat press.

Work Environment Public retail store setting with climate‑controlled areas; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work may be required.
