Who We Are In 1922, Woodcraft Rangers opened its doors in Los Angeles and began its mission of guiding young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives. As a progressive organization, Woodcraft has always been responsive to the evolving needs of the communities served, and is notably inclusive, youth‑led, and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service.

What We Do Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We also offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program.

Job Summary Community Liaisons support the after‑school programs by building positive relationships with participants, families, and the community. They oversee daily sign‑ins and sign‑outs, manage attendance rosters, and maintain communication materials. The role is on‑site, requiring attendance at training in Little Tokyo and at school sites.

Responsibilities

Ensure students are in a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.

Support club leaders and site coordinators with sign‑in/out procedures and parent communication.

Monitor attendance and engagement, confirming participants are actively engaged in program activities.

Organize and maintain participant registration forms, site information binder, and directory board.

Assist the site coordinator with cycle reports and other required reports.

Assist with site‑based events and substitute for clubs as needed.

Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Comply with all safety requirements and emergency protocols; keep all trainings and certifications up to date.

Attend off‑site field trips if required.

Participate in staff development trainings (≈15 hours over several weekends/intersessional days).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Detail‑oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive. Must be comfortable speaking in front of staff and peers during training, and able to multitask and pay strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance

TB Test clearance

First Aid & CPR certification (provided by WR)

Minimum 6 months of experience supervising children in a school or recreational setting, or 6 units in child development

Successfully pass an assessment test evaluating skills in math, reading comprehension, and spelling

Physical Demands

Stand and use hands to manage or handle items, and use a computer.

Frequent talking, hearing, reaching with hands and arms.

Occasional lifting or moving up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment The employee regularly works near a computer monitor and typical workplace noise levels.
