Base pay range $14.00/hr – $14.00/hr

This is an entry-level position, perfect for students with an interest in learning about building systems, repairs, and maintenance operations. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn and contribute to the team!

Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to qualify for the Federal Work Study Program.

This is a part‑time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week, depending on their unmet need on their FAFSA.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Federal Work Study is federally funded, need‑based aid to assist students with the cost of attending college. This listing is intended for students who will attend Surry Community College during the 2025‑2026 academic year and have need determined by the federal government. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assist with basic repairs and upkeep of facilities under supervision.

Support team members in identifying and retrieving parts and materials.

Provide assistance to electrical and repair technicians as needed.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment, organizing tools, and maintaining work areas.

Deliver tools or equipment to work sites as directed.

Help identify issues that require professional maintenance services.

Follow all safety protocols while handling tools and equipment.

General Qualifications No experience required; training will be provided.

Currently enrolled as a student and eligible for the work‑study program.

Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Willingness to learn and perform hands‑on tasks.

Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.

Interest in maintenance, repair, or electrical systems.

Basic knowledge of tools and equipment (a plus, but not necessary).

Required Qualifications

Warehouse Organization

Understanding of Warehouse Safety Guidelines and Procedures

Understanding of how to use warehouse equipment such as tractors, pressure washer, ladders, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

Interest in maintenance, repair, or electrical systems.

Basic knowledge of tools and equipment (a plus, but not necessary).

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Stand for long periods of time.

Lift heavy objects.

Walk long distances.

Bend for long periods.

Work in the elements.
