Position Summary The Independent Contractor – Preparedness Division provides local, tribal, and private sector clients with emergency management and homeland security services, including assessments, plans, training, exercises, and evaluations. The role leads the development of tools, approaches, and resources to help build and share expertise across projects, geographies, and focus areas.
This posting is being used to build a talent pipeline for potential future openings across our emergency management – preparedness function. While we may not have an immediate opening, we are continuously reviewing applicants and may hire directly from this pool as roles become available, contingent upon client needs.
Responsibilities
Create emergency operations plans (EOPs), continuity of operations plans (COOPs), and other documents to ensure clients are prepared appropriately in case of a disaster.
Design and facilitate tabletop exercises for clients, including the creation of scenarios, injects, and exercise timelines.
Manage and track the completion of corrective actions identified during after‑action reviews (AARs) or audit findings.
Document and maintain resource typing/inventory databases for clients as needed.
Assist in managing projects, ensuring they remain on schedule and within the defined scope.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university and at least three (3) years of experience in a relevant field, or a total of at least six (6) years of experience in a relevant field may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience serving in a supervisory or lead capacity for projects, including managing financials and/or staff.
Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies.
Compensation
Salary range of $30-$70/hr. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.
