This Firefighter role will support the Installation Support Services (ISS2) contract on Eareckson Air Station (EAS).

This position will require that the employee work on site at EAS. Transportation from Anchorage, Alaska to Eareckson Air Station will be furnished by government sponsored aircraft. Meals and housing will be provided by the program while working onsite. Employees will live in a dormitory housing environment, and meals will be furnished daily through the cafeteria/dining facility. This position works 7 days a week, 12 hour days, with a rotation of 8 weeks on and 4 off. This is a temporary short term position that will last no more than 6 weeks to cover other Firefighters who are taking their time off island.

Responsibilities

Controls and extinguishes fires.

Ability to drive and operate firefighting vehicles.

Performs crash/rescue and firefighting duties at airfields handling predominantly large or complex aircraft (e.g., fighters, cargo, and passenger).

Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities.

Performs search and rescue of personnel and performs or initiates a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepares victims(s) for transport to a medical facility.

Evaluates emergency medical situations and performs duties as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or equivalent.

Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities.

Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures.

Participates in the physical fitness, respiratory protection and hearing conservation program.

Performs daily inspection, maintenance and upkeep of firefighting apparatus, tools and equipment.

Participates in all training activities, including afterhours exercises and readiness inspection callouts.

Performs collateral duties and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualification

High school diploma or equivalent.

Three to Five years' experience controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, municipal or governmental fire department.

Ability to pass a National Agency Check that includes background investigation.

Ability to successfully pass the NFPA 1582 pre-employment physical requirements and drug tests upon hire, and annually.

Demonstrating specific vision abilities required by the job include the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.

Valid State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Speak, read and comprehend English fluently

Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment fingerprint, physical, and drug test.

Certified Firefighter I/II (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Hazardous Materials Awareness / Operations (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Driver Operator -- Pumper (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)Driver Operator -- ARFF (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Airport Firefighter (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

FEMA/NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Driver Operator -- Mobile Water Supply (MWS) (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Fire Inspector I (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Confined Space Rescue or Rescue Tech (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

Telecommunicator I/II (PROBOARD, or IFSAC)

NREMTB National Registry of EMT’s

Operating basic Microsoft computer programs.

Lifting and/or move up to 100 pounds.
